Canada\u2019s 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Trials To Return to Toronto<\/strong><\/p>\n

Swimming Canada on Friday announced<\/a> that Olympic and Paralympic Trials will be hosted by the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre in 2028.<\/p>\n

TPASC hosted Olympic Trials in 2016 and a pared down event in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as 2023 Bell Canadian Trials for the World Championships.<\/p>\n

Canadian Olympic Trials for the 2024 Paris Olympics will be held<\/a> May 13-19, 2024 at Montreal Olympic Park.<\/p>\n

The 2028 event will be held from June 2-8. Swimming Ontario led the bid to host the event at the pool the has hosted, among other events, the 2015 Pan American Games. Further dates for the next Olympic cycle will be finalized by Swimming Canada early next year.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is great that Swimming Canada continues to be well planned and prepared, as we focus on the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, but also have a well-structured strategy to the 2028 Games in LA,\u201d Swimming Canada High Performance Director and National Coach John Atkinson<\/strong> said in a press release.<\/p>\n

\u201cSwim Ontario is pleased to partner with Swimming Canada and the great community of Ontario volunteers and officials to host the 2028 Trials at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre,\u201d Swim Ontario CEO Dean Boles<\/strong> said. \u201cTPASC continues to provide an environment to earn success due to world-class people working together at a world-class facility here in Toronto.\u201d<\/p>\n

As part of the process of finalizing the next calendar, Swimming Canada remains in search of a host for a new short-course national championships. The deadline to submit request for proposals for that is extended to Dec. 31.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
