The European Water Polo Championships<\/strong> will not be taking place in Netanya, Israel, European Aquatics<\/strong> has announced.<\/p>\n Netanya – which is 34km north of the Israeli capital Tel Aviv – was due to stage the event from 3-16 January 2024.<\/p>\n However, the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict has made it “impossible” for the championships to go ahead with governing body European Aquatics<\/strong> looking to secure another host.<\/p>\n A statement from European Aquatics<\/strong> read:<\/p>\n “As a consequence of the recent terrorist attacks on Israel, and following extensive meetings between European Aquatics and the Israeli Water Polo Association, both institutions have agreed that it will be impossible to host the European Water Polo Championships in Netanya, Israel, as planned in January 2024.<\/p>\n “Different options are currently being investigated regarding the proper qualification procedure for the next World Aquatics Water Polo Championships in Doha, and further information on the topic will be communicated as soon as possible.<\/p>\n “European Aquatics would like to take this opportunity once again to strongly condemn those responsible for the terrorist atrocities against Israeli citizens and to express our support and sympathy with them at this difficult time.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" 2024 European Water Polo Championships Will Not Go Ahead In Netanya, Israel The European Water Polo Championships will not be taking place in Netanya, Israel, European Aquatics has announced.
