{"id":571712,"date":"2023-10-27T12:07:01","date_gmt":"2023-10-27T19:07:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=571712"},"modified":"2023-10-27T16:12:22","modified_gmt":"2023-10-27T23:12:22","slug":"brendan-burns-helps-indiana-run-the-table-against-auburn-missouri","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/brendan-burns-helps-indiana-run-the-table-against-auburn-missouri\/","title":{"rendered":"Brendan Burns Helps Indiana Run the Table against Auburn, Missouri"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Brendan Burns Helps Indiana Run the Table against Auburn, Missouri<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Brendan Burns<\/strong> won all three of his events as Indiana ran the table in both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s individual events in a nonconference tri-meet with Auburn and Missouri on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Indiana won all four of its meets by wide margins, the closest a 59-point win over Auburn on the women\u2019s side.<\/p>\n<h4>Men\u2019s<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>No. 5 Indiana 196, No. 20 Missouri 101<\/li>\n<li>No. 5 Indiana 181, No. 10 Auburn 117<\/li>\n<li>No. 10 Auburn 205, No. 20 Missouri 117<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Women\u2019s<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>No. 10 Indiana 198, Missouri 98<\/li>\n<li>No. 10 Indiana 177.5, No. 18 Auburn 118.50<\/li>\n<li>No. 18 Auburn 227, Missouri 73<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s competition, Indiana exhibitioned it\u2019s A and B 200 medley relays, which then posted the top two times. (In the women\u2019s, there was a tie between Indiana\u2019s B and the Auburn A squad.)<\/p>\n<p>Burns,<strong> Jassen Yep, Tomer Frankel <\/strong>and <strong>Mikkel Lee<\/strong> went 1:26.54 for the Hoosiers men. <strong>Luke Barr, Josh Matheny, Finn Brooks<\/strong> and <strong>Gavin Wright<\/strong> went 1:26.79.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/auburntigers.com\/documents\/2023\/10\/25\/mu-indiana-auburn_-_results.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/big-ten-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Big Ten Swimming News<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/sec-swimming\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SEC Swimming News<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Burns won the 100 backstroke in 47.17, the 200 butterfly in 1:44.80 and the 200 back in 1:44.14.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ahmed Hafnaoui<\/strong> routed the 1,000 free field with a time of 8:55.74, winning by 24.01 seconds. He won the 500 free in 4:18.62, 10 seconds up on the field.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rafael Miroslaw<\/strong> won the 100 free in 43.36 and the 200 free in 1:33.42. He was fourth in the 50 free in 20.00, after Lee won in 19.86 and Brooks took second in 19.92. Yep swept the breaststroke events, going 52.78 in the 100 and 1:54.71 in the 200. His time of 1:48.98 in the 200 individual medley was second to Barr\u2019s 1:46.56. Barr was third in the 100 back. Frankel won the 100 fly in 47.20 and was third in the 200 free.<\/p>\n<p>Auburn\u2019s <strong>Nathaniel Stoffle<\/strong> was second in both backstroke events and third in the 100 fly. <strong>Michael Bonson<\/strong> finished second in the 200 free and 500 free. <strong>Kalle Makinen<\/strong> took third in both sprint freestyle swims.<\/p>\n<p>Missouri took home second-place results via <strong>Logan Ottke<\/strong> (100 breast), <strong>Jan Zubik<\/strong> (200 fly) and <strong>Grant Bochenski<\/strong> (100 free).<\/p>\n<p>Indiana\u2019s women\u2019s team was similarly dominant. <strong>Ching Gan<\/strong> won the 500 free and 1,000 free. (She also finished fourth in the 200 free as an exhibition swimmer the event after the 1,000). Indiana went 1-2-3 in the 200 free, <strong>Anna Peplowski<\/strong> winning in 1:46.31 and <strong>Kristina Paegle<\/strong> second.<\/p>\n<p>Paegle won the 50 free (22.45) and 100 free (49.06). <strong>Ashley Turak<\/strong> posted the second-best time in both.
