{"id":571255,"date":"2023-10-23T01:43:13","date_gmt":"2023-10-23T08:43:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=571255"},"modified":"2023-10-23T01:43:13","modified_gmt":"2023-10-23T08:43:13","slug":"auburn-adds-lilly-gault-abdella-to-class-of-2029","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/auburn-adds-lilly-gault-abdella-to-class-of-2029\/","title":{"rendered":"Auburn Adds Lilly Gault Abdella To Class of 2029"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Auburn Adds Lilly Gault Abdella To Class of 2029<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Auburn University has received a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2025 from Junior National qualifier <strong>Lilly Gault Abdella<\/strong> of Greenville, South Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>She will join\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/auburn-lands-2025-verbal-from-nag-relay-record-holder-abigail-heizer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abigail Heizer<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>as a member of the Tigers&#8217; Class of 2029.<\/p>\n<p>She told\u00a0<em>Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div>\n<blockquote>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>&#8220;I am so proud to announce my verbal commitment to Auburn University where I will continue my academic and athletic goals! I would like to thank my family and friends for supporting me throughout my whole swim career and most importantly I would like to thank God for everything that he has blessed me with and for allowing this to be part of my story! I would also like to thank my amazing coaches and teammates at Team Greenville, JL Mann, and Gower. I am so excited to be apart of the Auburn family. War Eagle&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A talented and rangy freestyler, Abdella placed fifth in the 800m free, 10th in the 400m free, 16th in the 200m free and 22nd in the 100m free at NCSA Long Course Championships this past summer. She finished fifth in both the 500 free and 1000 free at the NCSA Spring Championships.<\/p>\n<p>She trains year-round with Team Greenville.<\/p>\n<p>Her best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50 free &#8211; 23.18<\/li>\n<li>100 free &#8211; 50.05<\/li>\n<li>200 free &#8211; 1:48.94<\/li>\n<li>500 free &#8211; 4:47.93<\/li>\n<li>1000 free &#8211; 9:55.58<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Currently a junior at JL Mann High School, Abdella raced to seventh in the 500 free and eighth in the 50 free at the 2022 South Carolina 5A State Championships.
