Kaylee McKeown Sets 100m Backstroke World Record Of 57.33<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Kaylee McKeown<\/strong> lowered her 100-meter backstroke world record to 57.33, a day after setting a new 50 standard at the <strong>World Aquatics Swimming World Cup<\/strong> in Budapest.<\/p>\n<p>The Olympic champion split 28.15\/29.18 as she cut 0.12 from her 57.45 WR set at the the Australian Trials ahead of Tokyo 2020.\u00a0The 22-year-old holds all the backstroke world records in the long-course pool adding the new 100 mark to the 26.86 she posted in the 50 on Friday and her 2:03.14 in the 200 from March this year.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been quite the year for McKeown, who swept the backstroke events at the World Championships and is carrying significant momentum into the Olympic year. Through the first two stops of the World Cup, McKeown looked strong and world-record swims figured to be in play during the final leg in Budapest. Indeed, McKeown answered on two occasions.<\/p>\n<p>McKeown will be the favorite for gold in the backstroke events at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, where she will renew a rivalry with American Regan Smith.
