{"id":570971,"date":"2023-10-17T15:23:01","date_gmt":"2023-10-17T22:23:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=570971"},"modified":"2023-10-17T15:23:01","modified_gmt":"2023-10-17T22:23:01","slug":"louisville-diver-else-praasterink-earns-third-straight-acc-diver-of-the-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/louisville-diver-else-praasterink-earns-third-straight-acc-diver-of-the-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Louisville Diver Else Praasterink Earns Third Straight ACC Diver of the Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Louisville Diver Else Praasterink Earns Third Straight ACC Diver of the Week<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Louisville\u2019s <strong>Else Praasterink<\/strong> was named the ACC women\u2019s diver of the week for the third straight week to start the season, <a href=\"https:\/\/theacc.com\/news\/2023\/10\/17\/swimming-diving-acc-names-swimmers-and-divers-of-the-week.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the conference announced Tuesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Praasterink is joined in the weekly honors by men\u2019s diver <strong>Max Fowler<\/strong> of Georgia Tech, Virginia female swimmer <strong>Gretchen Walsh<\/strong> and Pitt\u2019s <strong>Jerry Chen.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Praasterink swept both diving events in Louisville\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/tennessee-women-louisville-men-split-quick-long-course-meet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dual meet with Tennessee<\/a>. The junior from the Netherlands scored 316.73 points to win 1-meter and 291.53 in prevailing on 3-meter.<\/p>\n<p>Fowler starred in a pair of meets for the Yellow Jackets. He scored 343.95 on 1-meter and 413.55 on 3-meter to sweep the events in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jake-magahey-ian-grum-dune-coetzee-star-in-georgia-sweep-of-georgia-tech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dual meet loss to Georgia<\/a>. He upped his 1-meter score to 384.00 in a dual with Emory, in which he also won 3-meter. His score against Georgia is the third-best in the nation this season.<\/p>\n<p>Walsh was customarily dominant for the top-ranked Cavaliers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/gretchen-walsh-shines-as-virginia-women-top-florida-gator-men-win-every-event-in-dominant-victory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a win over Florida<\/a>. She posted the top time in the nation this season in the 100 backstroke, winning in an NCAA A cut 50.29 seconds. She also won the 100 freestyle in 47.19, then went faster in the winning 400 free relay with a leadoff leg of 46.90, the fastest time in the nation. The junior swam backstroke on the winning 200 medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>Chen, a fifth-year senior, performed well in a pair of challenging meets for the Panthers against Stanford <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/leah-polonsky-gabriel-jett-star-as-cal-cruises-past-pittsburgh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">and the University of California<\/a>. He won both breaststroke events in both meets. He was quicker in both events against Cal, going 54.03 in the 100 and 1:57.83 in the 200.
