{"id":570941,"date":"2023-10-16T14:16:34","date_gmt":"2023-10-16T21:16:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=570941"},"modified":"2023-10-16T14:25:20","modified_gmt":"2023-10-16T21:25:20","slug":"ioc-re-elects-kirsty-coventry-to-executive-board","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ioc-re-elects-kirsty-coventry-to-executive-board\/","title":{"rendered":"IOC Re-Elects Kirsty Coventry to Executive Board"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>IOC Re-Elects Kirsty Coventry to Executive Board<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The International Olympic Committee (IOC) re-elected 2023 International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHOF) inductee <strong>Kirsty Coventry<\/strong> to its executive board on Monday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kirsty-coventry-influential-in-and-out-of-the-pool-bound-for-international-swimming-hall-of-fame\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Coventry<\/a>, from Zimbabwe, was re-elected with <strong>Prince Feisal al Hussein<\/strong> of Jordan to the executive board.<\/p>\n<p>The election gave Coventry a four-year term. She served on the Executive Board from 2018-2021 and chaired the IOC Athletes&#8217; Commission.<\/p>\n<p>Prince Feisal is head of the Working Group on Safeguarding and deputy chair of the Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Commission.<\/p>\n<p>According to an <a href=\"https:\/\/olympics.com\/ioc\/news\/ioc-session-re-elects-hrh-prince-feisal-al-hussein-to-the-executive-board-and-elects-kirsty-coventry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Olympics report<\/a>, seven IOC Members coming to the end of their eight-year term, following their election or re-election in 2015, were re-elected for another eight years, with the age limit being taken into consideration for the end of their terms (80 years for those elected before December 1999 and 70 years for those elected after that date). They were <strong>Nawal El Moutawakel<\/strong> (Morocco, Independent Individual, year of birth: 1962, elected in 1998), <strong>Prince Albert II<\/strong> (Monaco, Independent Individual, year of birth: 1958, elected in 1985), and the Grand Duke of Luxembourg (Luxembourg, Independent Individual, year of birth: 1955, elected in 1998). All were elected for another eight-year term.<\/p>\n<p>Also elected with age-consideration term limits by the IOC were: <strong>Valeriy Borzov<\/strong> (Ukraine, Independent Individual, year of birth: 1949, elected in 1994) was re-elected to serve until the end of 2029; <strong>Gunilla Lindberg<\/strong> (Sweden, Independent Individual, year of birth: 1947, elected in 1996) was re-elected to serve until the end of 2027;<strong> Syed Shahid Ali<\/strong> (Pakistan, Independent Individual, year of birth: 1946, elected in 1996) was re-elected to serve until the end of 2026; and <strong>Nenad Lalovi\u0107<\/strong> (Serbia, membership linked to his function as President of United World Wrestling (UWW), year of birth: 1958, elected in 2015) was elected to serve until the end of 2028.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IOC Re-Elects Kirsty Coventry to Executive Board The International Olympic Committee (IOC) re-elected 2023 International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHOF) inductee Kirsty Coventry to its executive board on Monday.
