The U.S. athletes <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaswimming.org\/docs\/default-source\/open-water-resources\/open-water-selection\/2023-junior-ow-race-funding-final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.usaswimming.org\/docs\/default-source\/open-water-resources\/open-water-selection\/2023-junior-ow-race-funding-final.pdf&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1695305832731000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1zl_f3gICxztdKkuZ48MPK\"><span class=\"m_3462998163279043228normaltextrun\">qualified<\/span><\/a><span class=\"m_3462998163279043228normaltextrun\"> to attend this competition based on their performances at the 2023 USA Swimming 10K Open Water National Championships and the 2023 USA Swimming 7.5K Open Water National Junior Championships in Sarasota, Florida in April. Although the competition is open to all ages, USA Swimming is sending a roster of Junior athletes. With World Aquatics Junior Open Water Swimming Championships only occurring in even-numbered years, this World Cup represents an important international competition opportunity for the younger American athletes. Erisman won gold as part of the men\u2019s 4x200m freestyle relay. Whitlock finished fifth in the men\u2019s 400m and 800m freestyle events.
