Per the Channel Swimming Association, that feat makes her the youngest to complete the Triple Crown of marathon swims.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Margaret Rivard is a CHANNEL SWIMMER &#8211; she has completed her swim in a time of 13hrs and 37mins (unratiifed).<br \/>\nWell done Margaret and team Rowena!<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/q8WR4Dawwc\">https:\/\/t.co\/q8WR4Dawwc<\/a>&#8230;<br \/>\nChannel Swimming Association Ltd<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Channel Swimming Association (@CSAswimmers) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CSAswimmers\/status\/1699445544140066929?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 6, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/longswims.com\/p\/margaret-rivard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">She completed<\/a> the Catalina Channel crossing in August 2021 at age 14 and last summer did the 20 Bridges Manhattan circumnavigation. She\u2019s the youngest to accomplish a number of swims, including the 10-mile course at the Kingdom Swim when she was just 10 years old.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe English Channel was my greatest challenge yet,\u201d Rivard told the <em>Caledonian Record<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caledonianrecord.com\/news\/local\/derby-teenager-rivard-crosses-english-channel-becomes-youngest-triple-crown-swimmer\/article_d9e6ada2-0570-53be-95fa-e78b8c6c84fa.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in her home state<\/a>. \u201cIt was hard for both my mind and body. I started in the dark and had fog a lot of the way so I had no idea how much longer I had to swim for most of the time.<\/p>\n<p>Rivard isn\u2019t the first in her family to complete the Triple Crown: Older sister and training partner <strong>Vera Rivard,<\/strong> now 19, accomplished it as a 17-year-old. Vera Rivard is already a member of the Vermont Open Water Swimming Hall of Fame, inducted before her sophomore year at Kearsarge High in New Hampshire. (Vera crossed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/vera-rivard-swims-solo-across-english-channel-at-age-16\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the English Channel at age 16 in 2020<\/a>. She was likewise inducted to the Vermont Hall in what is regarded as the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.openwaterswimming.com\/margaret-rivard-inducted-in-the-vermont-open-water-swimming-hall-of-fame\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">First Family of the Northeast Kingdom<\/a>\u201d for open water, with their parents <strong>Kevin<\/strong> and <strong>Darcie<\/strong> (nee DeBlois).)<\/p>\n<p>For Margaret, the Triple Crown is a goal she\u2019s long had on her radar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it has been a goal since I heard about these events myself,\u201d Rivard said. \u201cI just always love swimming as far and as fast as I can. It makes me happy and helps me relax.
