The Gravley brothers are fresh off competing at the World Aquatics Swimming Championships last month and will look to build on their international racing experience gained in Japan. Twichell is the only Olympian on the roster. She finished in seventh place at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. John Payne of TAC Titans will serve as head coach for this year\u2019s Pan American Games open water team.<\/span><span class=\"m_4228617114281849784eop\">\u00a0<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/category\/open-water\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">More open water news<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_4228617114281849784paragraph\"><u><\/u><span class=\"m_4228617114281849784normaltextrun\">The Pan American Games are the world\u2019s third-largest international multi-sport Games; they are only surpassed in size and scope by the Olympic Summer Games and the Asian Games. The first Pan American Games were held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1951 and the inaugural Parapan American Games were held in Mexico City in 1999. Both the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games are held every four years for the athletes of the 41 PASO member nations, in the year preceding the Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games.<\/span><span class=\"m_4228617114281849784eop\">\u00a0<\/span><u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_4228617114281849784paragraph\"><span class=\"m_4228617114281849784normaltextrun\">At the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, <strong>Taylor Abbott <\/strong><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaswimming.org\/news\/2020\/11\/18\/taylor-abbott-reallocated-a-silver-medal-for-pan-american-games-10k\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.usaswimming.org\/news\/2020\/11\/18\/taylor-abbott-reallocated-a-silver-medal-for-pan-american-games-10k&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1694223076272000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1HZJRQx__xbGHJ2dmR17uY\"><span class=\"m_4228617114281849784normaltextrun\">earned the silver medal<\/span><\/a><span class=\"m_4228617114281849784normaltextrun\"> in the men\u2019s 10k event.
