NEW YORK, July 24. SAN Jose native Scott Rodeo is serving as Head Team Physician for the USA Swimming National Team at the World Swimming Championships in Barcelona. <\/p>\n
Dr. Rodeo, an associate attending orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in Manhattan, has been offering medical assistance for USA Swimming since 1998. Last year, he served as Head Team Physician at the Short Course World Championships in Moscow. As chairman of the USA Swimming Sports Committee, Rodeo is responsible for coordinating the medical care both home and abroad for all athletes competing for Team USA.<\/p>\n
Rodeo is a sports medicine specialist, with a particular interest in shoulder and knee instability. A former swimmer himself, Rodeo competed for two years at Stanford University, where he earned a trip to the NCAA National Championships. He became involved with USA Swimming because of a desire to give back to the sport, which ignited his interest in sports medicine. <\/p>\n
Currently, Rodeo serves as an Associate Team Physician for the New York Giants football team.<\/p>\n
