OLSZTYN, Poland, June 6. THE second day of action at the Polish National Championships produced a Polish relay record as well as a powerful double victory by Alicja Tchorz.<\/p>\n
The Slask Wroclaw foursome of Anna Dowgiert (57.25), Paulina Zelazna (58.08), Karolina Dyrda (57.51) and Nikola Petryka (56.90) set the Polish record in the women’s 400-meter free relay with a 3:49.74 this evening. That performance beat the record of 3:49.86 set by the quartet of Katarzyna Wilk, Magdalena Baranowska, Natalia Pawlaczek and Karolina Szcepaniak at the 2008 European Juniors in Serbia.<\/p>\n
Tchorz of Juvenia Wroclaw captured her second title of the meet as well as she charged to a 1:01.21 in the women’s 100-meter back. She matched that with her win in the 200 back on day one, and finished just off her Polish mark of 1:01.02. Her teammate Klaudia Nazieblo posted a second-place time of 1:01.81, while Pietnastka Bydgoszcz’s Anna Kozlowska finished third in 1:03.47.<\/p>\n
In a close call, Tchorz doubled up on day two with her third victory of the meet as she clipped Katowice’s Karolina Szcepaniak, 4:49.84 to 4:49.99, in the women’s 400-meter IM. Biala Podlaska’s Jowita Sienczyk rounded out the podium with a third-place time of 4:54.69.<\/p>\n
After vaulting to fourth in the world rankings in the men’s 200-meter fly yesterday, Warszawa’s Pawel Korzeniowski clinched his second title of the meet with a 1:47.78 in the men’s 200-meter free. That’s just a second off his Polish record of 1:46.59. Jan Switkowski of Skarpa Lublin took second in 1:48.35 with Water Poznan’s Kacper Majchrzak finishing third in 1:49.43.<\/p>\n
Polish-record holder Radoslaw Kawecki snagged the men’s 100-meter backstroke crown with a 54.35. That isn’t far off his national standard of 53.82. Krzysztof Jankiewicz hit the wall in 55.32 for second, while Katowice’s Tomasz Plewska earned third in the finale with a 55.39.<\/p>\n
Ostrowiec’s Donata Kilijanska won by more than a second in the women’s 200-meter free with a 2:02.08, while Olsztyn’s Monika Czerniak took second in the finale with a 2:03.29. Szczecin’s Katarzyna Kasperek checked in with a third-place 2:04.14.<\/p>\n
Wroclaw’s Dominika Sztandera picked up the women’s 50-meter breast crown in 32.27with Paulina Zachoszcz of Szczecin earning second-place honors in the sprint breast with a 32.89. Slask Wroclaw’s Weronika Paluszek wound up third in 33.22.<\/p>\n
Dawid Szluich of Delfin Legionowo topped the men’s 50-meter breast in 27.97, just half-a-second off his Polish record of 27.48. Filip Wypych of Lodz placed second in 28.54, while Victoria Raciborz’s Krzysztof Tokarski snatched third in the finale with a 28.60.<\/p>\n
Slask Wroclaw’s Karol Zaczynski took home the men’s 400-meter IM title in 4:22.10 with Dawid Szwedzki posting a 4:22.37 for second place overall. Adam Dubiel picked up third in the finale with a 4:26.03.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
