LOS ANGELES, Calif., June 26. SPEEDO signed three of the United States\u2019 top competitive divers to individual endorsement deals, it was announced today. Troy Dumais, member of the U.S. Olympic Diving team in 2000, and his brother Justin, the 2002 U.S. Olympic Committee\u2019s Male Diving Athlete of the Year join Indiana University alumna Sara Hildebrand (formerly Reiling) as the newest members of Team Speedo. <\/p>\n
These athletes, along with Team Speedo divers Mark Ruiz and Laura Wilkinson, are competing at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis this week in the 2003 Speedo National Diving Championships, June 24 through June 29, 2003. <\/p>\n
The elder of the Dumais brothers, Justin (24), has competed in diving for 13 years. Justin had a successful 2002 season, placing first in platform at the Speedo National Diving Championships as well as first in both the three-meter and platform synchronized dives, performing along side his brother. Justin captured the silver medal on platform at the 2002 NCAA Division I diving competition. <\/p>\n
Troy (23) has competed in diving for 15 years. He secured a spot on the 2000 U.S. Olympic Diving Team when he placed second in the three-meter at the Olympic Trials. Troy received the 2002 Men\u2019s All-Around Award and was the 2002 NCAA Division I champion on the one-meter and three-meter springboard. In 1995, Troy captured gold medals from one-meter and three-meter making him the first U.S. junior diver to win two world junior titles since 1979. <\/p>\n
With a hometown of Ventura, Calif., the Dumais family of athletes includes two additional brothers and a sister, all who in 1994 earned the distinction of Southern Pacific Association Diver of the Year for their respective age groups. Their father was a professional French Canadian hockey and tennis player. Both brothers currently reside in The Woodlands, Texas, and train at the USA Diving National Training Center at The Woodlands. <\/p>\n
Sara Hildebrand was born Sara Reiling in St. Paul, Minn. She recently graduated from Indian University and now resides in Bloomington, Ind., with her husband, Butch – a former IU wrestler. Hildebrand was twice named the Big Ten Diver of the Year (2000 & \u201802). In 2003, Hildebrand is off to a fast start, taking three gold medals at the Speedo American Cup in three-meter springboard, platform and platform synchronized dive with partner and former classmate Cassandra Cardinell. <\/p>\n
Hildebrand, a seven-time U.S. National Team member, made her Olympic debut in Sydney (2000) and will be looking for her second Olympic berth at Trials next summer. She continues to train with IU Diving coach and Speedo advisory coach, Dr. Jeff Huber.<\/p>\n
Following Nationals this week, the Dumais brothers and Hildebrand will look ahead to Barcelona where they will represent the U.S. at the World Aquatic Championships beginning July 13. <\/p>\n
