THE Arena Grand Prix in Charlotte just lost some of its star power as Ryan Lochte has been forced to pull out of the meet.<\/p>\n<p>The news first broke when the U.S. Olympic Team Twitter account posted what initially seemed to be a rumor about Lochte not swimming. <i>Swimming World<\/i> has since confirmed the rumor is legitimate with sources close to the meet. We are still working on specifics about the situation, and will update this story when more information comes to light.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-partner=\"tweetdeck\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OutAlive1985\">@OutAlive1985<\/a> Sorry for the delay! Interview has been moved to later in the summer bc Ryan is no longer competing in Charlotte this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 US Olympic Team (@USOlympic) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/USOlympic\/statuses\/466231206041108480\">May 13, 2014<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As a refresher, Lochte injured his medial collateral ligament (MCL) and sprained his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) on his left knee in November when a female fan ran toward him on the street in Florida. When the two toppled over, Lochte hit his knee on the curb and was out of the pool for a couple of months. Though he returned to racing in February at the Arena Grand Prix in Orlando and last month in Mesa, Lochte admitted he had ignored doctor\u2019s orders to hold off on racing. Lochte withdrew from the last night of finals in Mesa with knee issues.<\/p>\n<p>Lochte was scheduled to swim the 200 free, 100 fly, 400 IM, 100 back, 200 IM, 200 back and the 100 free. USA Swimming has not removed Lochte from <a href=\"http:\/\/usaswimming.org\/_Rainbow\/Documents\/5885a4b1-a54a-4125-a4cb-f6c5058b0c46\/2014%20Charlotte%20GP%20-%20Psych%20Sheet.pdf\" target=\"\u201d_blank\u201d\">the psych sheet<\/a>, as of this posting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CHARLOTTE, North Carolina, May 13.
