The CIF decided this year to eschew its sectional championship setup in lieu of having likely one of the top state high school swimming championships in the nation. About the only states that will be able to rival the depth and speed of an All-California meet are states like Florida and Texas.<\/p>\n

“It’s huge for the swimming community,” Clovis West coach Adam Reid told the Fresno Bee. “Clovis Unified has such a great reputation for athletics with hosting the state championships for cross country and track and doing an outstanding job with those events. There are not many high school programs in the country that have world-class facilities like we do in aquatics. It’s exciting to get to showcase those to the rest of the state.”<\/p>\n

Early plans are for the meet to include 32 entrants in each event, with each of CIF’s 10 sections getting a specific amount of guaranteed spots in each event.<\/p>\n
