MESA, Arizona, April 25. NCAP’s Katie Ledecky, the reigning Swimming World World Swimmer of the Year, sizzled at the Arena Grand Prix in Mesa with a strong outing in the women’s 200-meter free.<\/p>\n

Ledecky blasted a time of 1:56.27 for the 200 free win, moving to fourth in the world. Only Sarah Sjostrom (1:55.04), Emma McKeon (1:55.68) and Federica Pellegrini (1:55.69) have been faster as Ledecky continues to put up strong performances.<\/p>\n

NBAC’s Allison Schmitt powered her way to 1:56.90 for second, moving to eighth in the SwimVortex world rankings, as Ledecky and Schmitt battled during the championship heat.<\/p>\n

Hurricane’s Katie Hoff led the way out of the rest of the heat with a third-place 1:59.93. NBAC’s Cierra Runge also broke 2:00 with a 1:59.99.<\/p>\n

Virginia’s Leah Smith (2:00.27), NBAC’s Gillian Ryan (2:02.04), Mission Viejo’s Katie McLaughlin (2:02.67) and Athens Bulldog Megan Romano (2:02.79) also competed in the A final.<\/p>\n
