MESA, Arizona, April 25. RYAN Lochte’s unworldly underwaters proved to be the difference in the men’s 200-meter freestyle at the Arena Grand Prix in Mesa.<\/p>\n

Lochte, swimming for SwimMAC, edged NYAC’s Darian Townsend, 1:49.48 to 1:49.94, in what proved to be an epic battle here in Mesa. Lochte, however, gained an advantage with every turn.<\/p>\n

The Woodlands’ Michael McBroom, who won the 400 free last night, took third in 1:50.42 this evening in the shorter distance event.<\/p>\n

NBAC’s Tom Luchsinger (1:51.88), Louisville’s Matthias Lindenbauer (1:52.220), PASA’s Jason Dunford (1:52.42), SCSC’s John Foster (1:54.37) and Stanford’s Bobby Bollier (1:55.41) completed the championship heat.<\/p>\n
