BUDAPEST, May 29. AFTER months of deliberation, the Hungarian government yesterday approved the construction of a new, state-of-the-art aquatic center, which will be built to host the 2006 European Championships. <\/p>\n
But newly-appointed Minister of Sport Ferenc Gyurcsany warned that it will not be easy to complete construction on time. "This is a very tight schedule,"
\nhe told reporters. "Completing such a project takes at least 36 months and the swimming championships start on July 27, 2006."<\/p>\n
The $37.5 million complex, to be built in southern Budapest near the university in Lagymanyos, is slated to have six pools for swimming, diving, water polo and synchronised swimming, and will seat 6,000 spectators.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
