BRENDAN Hyland lowered his own Irish record in the men\u2019s 200 fly to highlight an exciting opening night at the Irish Long Course National Championships at the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin.<\/p>\n<p>Hyland picked up a national title in the 200 fly, taking a little less than half a second off his own national record with a 1:58.68. Cian Duffy (2:04.34) and Ben Griffin (2:06.65) finished well behind in second and third. The women\u2019s 200 fly title went to Clodagh Flood, who turned in a time of 2:17.07 to outdistance Sarah Kelly\u2019s 2:20.58 and Gemma Kane\u2019s 2:20.88.<\/p>\n<p>Antoinette Neamt, 13, had a huge opening night, picking up a pair of victories in the women\u2019s 200 free and 800 free. Neamt won the 800 by almost 25 seconds over Therese Corry (9:11.09) and Ali Berry (9:24.57), touching in 8:46.23. She then returned to take the 200 free in 2:03.66; Rachel Bethel (2:05.17) and Danielle Lowe (2:05.44) rounded out the top three. Lithuania\u2019s Danas Rapsys and Povilas Strazdas finished 1-2 in the men\u2019s 200 free, turning in times of 1:50.41 and 1:51.07, respectively. Jordan Sloane claimed third in 1:51.67.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Meegan won the men\u2019s distance event of the night, touching in 15:54.70 to in 15:55.85, while Christopher Bryan rounded out the top three in 16:14.24.<\/p>\n<p>Barry Murphy and Fiona Doyle, who have both already qualified for Ireland\u2019s European Championship team this summer, earned their first individual victories of the meet in the men\u2019s and women\u2019s 50 breast.
