SURINAME&#8217;s Yael Touw Ngie Tjouw, 12, is definitely making a mark on the 11-12 age division at the Carifta Games, which features the best age groupers out of the Caribbean. So far, Tjouw has won four individual events in just two days of action.<\/p>\n<p><b>15-17<\/b><br \/>\nBahamas&#8217; Joanna Evans notched a win in the girls 200-meter free with a 2:05.52, while Arbua&#8217;s Daniella van den Berg clipped Guadelupe&#8217;s Charlotte Backovic, 2:09.23 to 2:09.25, for second overall. Barbados&#8217; Christian Sebly snared the boys 200-meter free crown in 1:53.58 with Jamaica&#8217;s Nico Campbell claiming second in 1:55.22. Aruba&#8217;s Mikel Schreuders rounded out the top three in 1:55.91.<\/p>\n<p>Martinique&#8217;s Sandrine Fanchonna won the girls 50-meter fly in 28.98 with Trinidad and Tobago&#8217;s Kristin Julien taking second in 29.02. Barbados&#8217; Zabrina Holder earned third in 29.19. French Guyana&#8217;s Dorian Pedro-Leal and Suriname&#8217;s Zuhayr Pigot tied for the boys 50-meter fly title with matching 25.32s. Jamaica&#8217;s Sidrell Williams placed third in 25.71.<\/p>\n<p>Trinidad and Tobago&#8217;s Kristin Julien snatched the girls 100-meter back title in 1:06.39 with Suriname&#8217;s Brienne Renfurm placing second in 1:07.85. Jamaica&#8217;s Danielle Boothe earned third in 1:08.02. Trinidad and Tobago&#8217;s David McLeod (58.72) and Jabari Baptiste (59.82) took first and second in the boys 100-meter back, while Jamaica&#8217;s Keanan Dols earned third in 1:01.16.<\/p>\n<p>Bahamas&#8217; Joanna Evans grabbed the girls 400-meter IM title in 5:06.47 with Aruba&#8217;s Daniella van den Berg earning second in 5:11.61. Jamaica&#8217;s Danielle Boothe claimed third with a 5:16.89. Aruba&#8217;s Jordy Groters captured the boys 400-meter IM in 4:39.83 with Jamaica&#8217;s Keanan Dols taking second in 4:40.14. Aruba&#8217;s Mikel Schreuders touched third in 4:40.39.<\/p>\n<p><b>13-14<\/b><br \/>\nBarbados&#8217; Hannah Gill nearly clipped the meet record in the girls 200-meter free with a 2:09.99. That swim just missed Kimberlee John Williams&#8217; 2009 mark of 2:09.51. Bahamas&#8217; Albury Higgs placed second in 2:11.18 with Guadelupe&#8217;s Mathilde Jean earning third in 2:11.46. Gudaelupe&#8217;s Samuel Marinette snagged the boys 200-meter free crown in 1:57.98 with Bermuda&#8217;s Jesse Washington taking second in 1:58.16. Aruba&#8217;s Patrick Groters wound up third in 1:59.53 with Antigua and Barbuda&#8217;s Noah Mascoll-Gomes also breaking 2:00 with a 1:59.90 for fourth.<\/p>\n<p>A trio of swimmers beat the meet record in the girls 50-meter fly as British Virgin Islands&#8217; Elinah Phillip (28.71), Aruba&#8217;s Keeley Maduro (29.26) and Trinidad and Tobago&#8217;s Amira Pilgrim (29.41) all undercut Tyla Martin&#8217;s 29.49 from 2012. Suriname&#8217;s Irvin Hoost nipped Trinidad and Tobago&#8217;s Kael Yorke, 26.46 to 26.48, in the boys 50-meter fly. Bermuda&#8217;s Jesse Washington placed third in 26.55.<\/p>\n<p>Cayman Islands&#8217; Lauren Hew broke a historic meet record in the girls 100-mete back with a 1:07.21, upended the 1:07.68 set by Sangeeta Puri way back in 1995. Bermuda&#8217;s Madelyn Moore took second in 1:09.18, while teammate Shannon Hassell earned third in 1:09.30. Aruba&#8217;s Patrick Groters won the boys 100-meter back in 1:01.99. Trinidad and Tobago&#8217;s Justin Samlalsingh (1:02.53) and Antigua and Barbuda&#8217;s Noah Mascoll-Gomes (1:03.89) rounded out the podium.<\/p>\n<p>Bahamas&#8217; Albury Higgs won the girls 400-meter IM in 5:12.19, while Guadelupe&#8217;s Alice Marsau (5:22.02) and Lesy Celini (5:22.32) finished well behind in second and third. Groters doubled up with a 4:49.31 to win the boys 400-meter IM. Barbados&#8217; Luis Sebastian Weekes took second in 4:56.02 with Guadelupe&#8217;s Samuel Marinette earning third in 4:56.66.<\/p>\n<p><b>11-12<\/b><br \/>\nBermuda&#8217;s Ashley Irby clinched the girls 200-meter free title in 2:16.76 with Aruba&#8217;s Elisabeth Timmer earning second in 2:18.54. Trinidad and Tobago&#8217;s Jada Chai wrapped up the top three in 2:18.78. Suriname&#8217;s Yael Touw Ngie Tjouw continued his strong meet with his third title thus far as he posted a 2:07.17 in the boys 200-meter free. Martinique&#8217;s Hendrick Champrobret finished well back with a second-place 2:12.76, while Jamaica&#8217;s Nicholas Vale earned third in 2:13.22.<\/p>\n<p>The first meet record of the night fell in the girls 50-meter fly with Curacao&#8217;s Chade Nersicio edging Bermuda&#8217;s Emma Harvey at the wall, 29.37 to 29.55. That swims both eclipsed the 2009 record of 29.97 set by Danielle Boothe. Trinidad and Tobago&#8217;s Jada Chai raced to third in 30.29. Bahamas went 1-2 in the boys 50-meter fly with Samuel Gibson (28.72) and Darren Laing (29.51) taking the top two spots in the sprint. Martinique&#8217;s Hendrick Camprobert took his second podium with a third-place 29.54.<\/p>\n<p>Barbados&#8217; Danielle Titus topped the girls 100-meter back in 1:08.82, while Bermuda&#8217;s Emma Harvey and Curacao&#8217;s Tiareth Cijntje battled for second, 1:12.01 to 1:13.02, respectively. Touw Ngie Tjouw won his fourth title of the meet with a record time of 1:05.25 in the boys 100-meter back. That effort smashed Dylan Carter&#8217;s 2009 record of 1:06.44. Guadelupe&#8217;s Anthony Mercury placed well behind with a second-place 1:09.55, while Suriname&#8217;s Kenzo Simons took third in 1:10.52.<\/p>\n<p>Barbados&#8217; Danielle Titus doubled up tonight with a 5:36.13 in the girls 400-meter IM, while Jamaica&#8217;s Laura Limsang placed second in 5:38.86. Guadelupe&#8217;s Franely Angele wound up third in 5:43.31.
