LESS than a year after announcing <a href=http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/lane9\/news\/World\/36926.asp target=\"_blank\">her retirement from competitive swimming<\/a>, Japanese backstroke legend Aya Terakawa is set to marry former swimmer Daisuke Hosokawa.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s announcement of the application of a marriage license also brought out more news from the happy couple, as Terakawa announced she also was five months pregnant, according to a report on Yahoo Japan. This will be the first child for both, with a due date set for September. The article on Yahoo Japan did not specify the wedding date.<\/p>\n<p>Terakawa won two bronze medals at the 2012 Olympics in the 100 back and 400 medley relay. She won two more bronzes last summer at the world championships in the 50 back and 100 back. Her final competitions came during the FINA World Cup series in Eindhoven and Berlin, and she finished the year ranked second in the long course and short course 100 backstrokes.<\/p>\n<p>Hosokawa is a three-time world championship medalist as a freestyler on Japan&#8217;s 400 medley relay, winning bronze in 2003 and 2005, and silver in 2007.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/headlines.yahoo.co.jp\/hl?a=20140422-00000069-mai-spo target=\"_blank\">Yahoo Japan article (in Japanese)<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TOKYO, Japan, April 22.
