SARASOTA, Florida, April 11. U.S. Masters Swimming\u2019s goal of getting more adults into the pool during Learn-To-Swim month got a big boost with the announcement today that several branches of the Life Time Fitness chain of workout facilities will be home to a USMS swimming program.<\/p>\n

Ninety-two cities in 25 states claim a Life Time fitness facility with a pool, and 76 of them will become official places for Masters swimmers to train daily, according to the USMS press release. Certified USMS coaches will lead the workouts at these pools, and a post on the Life Time website stipulates that the only requirement for swimmers to train with the team, besides a USMS membership, is \u201cthat you can swim down and back in the lap pool without stopping.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Life Time’s robust adult swim programming has been well received by our members of all swimming abilities since its inception,\u201d said Alicia Kockler, Life Time\u2019s director of aquatics. The additional benefits our members will receive through USMS-the ability to swim in USMS-sanctioned events, as well as USMS certified coaches and programming-and the benefits USMS members receive from us-increased access to pools with certified coaches-allows both programs to grow.”<\/p>\n

Swimming has long been touted as a great sport and recreational activity virtually everyone can enjoy and benefit from.
