Patrick Sammon Lead The Way In LEN European U23 Championships Prelims"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Gabriel Jett, Isabel Gose &amp; Patrick Sammon Lead The Way In LEN European U23 Championships Prelims<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Gabriel Jett, Isabel Gose<\/strong>, <strong>Patrick Sammon<\/strong> shone on the first morning of the inaugural <strong>LEN European U23 Championships<\/strong> in Dublin.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/results-ws.microplustimingservices.com\/U23DUBLIN\/index_web.php?s=Q2hlY2tKc29uRm9yTG9hZE9uTWFpbihjb2RTdW1tYXJ5LCB0cnVlLCB0cnVlKTs=&amp;cat=ASF&amp;page=003&amp;spec=001&amp;bat=001&amp;td=CGR1&amp;hg=10:42&amp;descIT=V29tZW7CoC3CoDIwMG0gRnJlZXN0eWxlIC0gSGVhdHM=&amp;descEN=V29tZW7CoC3CoDIwMG0gRnJlZXN0eWxlIC0gSGVhdHM=&amp;descFR=V29tZW7CoC3CoDIwMCBtIE5hZ2UgTGlicmUgLSBIZWF0cw==&amp;curCatSel_M_F=&amp;sport=Swimming\">Results\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Athletes aged 19-23 are eligible to compete while each federation may enter one competitor per event who is aged 14-18.<\/p>\n<p>Teams from the USA, Zimbabwe and South Africa have also entered the meet which runs from 11-13 August at the <strong>Sport Ireland: National Aquatics Centre.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jett split 24.44\/27.09 to rocket to lane four in the 100 fly in 51.53, a time that would have put him 13th at the <strong>World Championships<\/strong> in Fukuoka.<\/p>\n<p>Tokyo Olympian <strong>Simon Bucher<\/strong> will be alongside him after going 51.71, the pair the only men inside 52.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emma Sticklen<\/strong> of the United States heads the women&#8217;s 100 fly in 58.43 with <strong>Ellen Walshe<\/strong> booking lane five in 58.86.<\/p>\n<p>Gose <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/european-championships-marrit-steenbergen-continues-dutch-freestyle-strength-with-200-free-win\/\">won 200 free bronze at the <strong>2022 European Championships<\/strong><\/a> in Rome among a three-medal haul and she led the way in 1:58.96.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Janja Segel<\/strong> &#8211; who finished one place behind Gose in fourth at the Foro Italico &#8211; booked the adjacent lane for Friday&#8217;s final in 1:59.25.<\/p>\n<p>Sammon &#8211; who swims at Arizona Sun Devils &#8211; was the only man inside 1:47 in the men&#8217;s 200 free to book lane four in 1:46.91 ahead of USA teammate Aaron Shackell (1:47.07).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matt Sates<\/strong> &#8211; who holds the WJR in the short-course pool &#8211; was fifth through in 1:48.10.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gabriel Jett<\/strong> rocketed to lane four in the 100 fly in 51.53, a time that would have put him 13th at the <strong>World Championships<\/strong> in Fukuoka.<\/p>\n<p>Tokyo Olympian <strong>Simon Bucher<\/strong> will be alongside him after going 51.71, the pair the only men inside 52.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emma Sticklen<\/strong> of the United States heads the women&#8217;s 100 fly in 58.43 with <strong>Ellen Walshe<\/strong> booking lane five in 58.86.<\/p>\n<p>Jett and Sammon returned for the mixed medley relay, the latter with a 48.18 anchor as the US quartet booked top spot in 3:46.39 ahead of Israel and Britain.<\/p>\n<p>Britain&#8217;s <strong>Charlie Brown<\/strong> led the 200 back in 1:58.23 ahead of <strong>Hunter Tapp<\/strong> of the USA (1:58.32) and South Africa&#8217;s Commonwealth bronze medallist <strong>Pieter Coetze<\/strong> (1:58.59).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Justina Kozan<\/strong> heads the women&#8217;s 200IM in 2:13.91 with Walshe booking her second final in 2:15.01.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Isabelle Stadden<\/strong> led the 50 back into the final in 28.09 and\u00a0<strong>Anita Bottazzo<\/strong> heads the women&#8217;s 50 breast in 30.08 ahead of <strong>Mona McSharry<\/strong>, the Irish record-holder clocking 30.66.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Koen de Groot<\/strong> headed the men&#8217;s 50 breast in 27.27.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gabriel Jett, Isabel Gose &amp;
