{"id":534778,"date":"2023-08-03T13:11:34","date_gmt":"2023-08-03T20:11:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=534778"},"modified":"2023-08-03T13:51:33","modified_gmt":"2023-08-03T20:51:33","slug":"para-world-championships-four-world-records-fall-noah-jaffe-breaks-american-mark","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/para-world-championships-four-world-records-fall-noah-jaffe-breaks-american-mark\/","title":{"rendered":"Para World Championships: Five World Records Fall; Noah Jaffe Breaks American Mark"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Para World Championships: Four World Records Fall; Noah Jaffe Breaks American Mark<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>More records fell on the fourth day of the 2023 Para Swimming World Championships from Manchester, England.<\/p>\n<p>The day saw four world records, an American record and an African record all fall.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s <strong>Danylo Chufarov<\/strong> broke the world record in the men&#8217;s 200 IM SM11 class, getting to the wall in 2:18.16.<\/p>\n<p>The very next event, China&#8217;s <strong>Ma Jia<\/strong> broke the world record in the same event on the women&#8217;s side in 2:40.10.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine earned another world record when <strong>Anton Kol<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 200 free S1 class in 4:57.31.<\/p>\n<p>China also earned another world record when <strong>Guo Jincheng<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 200 IM SM5 class Para world record in 2:46.55.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. swimmer<strong> Noah Jaffe<\/strong> claimed gold in the men&#8217;s 100 free S8 class, breaking the American record to win in 59.15.<\/p>\n<p>The meet started with a meet record by <strong>Talisson Glock<\/strong> in the men&#8217;s 400 freestyle S6 class. He finished in 4:52.42.<\/p>\n<p>South Africa&#8217;s <strong>Kat Swanepoel<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 50 backstroke S4 class gold medal in an African record time of 47.98.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s <strong>Denys Ostapchenko<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 50 backstroke S3 gold in 45.95, while Great Britain&#8217;s <strong>Ellie Challis<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s race in 54.90 to earn gold.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s<strong> Danielle Dorris<\/strong> won gold in the women&#8217;s 100 backstroke S7, getting to the wall in 1:22.02.<\/p>\n<p>Italy&#8217;s <strong>Simone Barlaam<\/strong> continued his strong meet with a gold-medal win in the men&#8217;s 100 free S9 class (52.28).<\/p>\n<p>New Zealand&#8217;s <strong>Cameron Leslie<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 50 backstroke S4 class in 42.67 to claim gold.<\/p>\n<p>Germany&#8217;s <strong>Elena Krawzow<\/strong> broke the meet record in the women&#8217;s 100 breaststroke SB12. She won the race in 1:13.13.<\/p>\n<p>Brazil&#8217;s <strong>Cecila Jeronimo de Araujo<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 100 free S8 in 1:05.69.<\/p>\n<p>Brazil&#8217;s <strong>Gabriel dos Santos Aruajo<\/strong> earned gold in the men&#8217;s 200 free S2 with a time of 4:01.51.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s <strong>Jiang Yuyan<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 400 free S6 in 5:14.01. <strong>He Shenggao<\/strong> won gold in the women&#8217;s 200 IM SM5 in 3:20.76.<\/p>\n<p>Azerbaijan&#8217;s <strong>Vali Israfilov<\/strong> won gold in the men&#8217;s 100 breaststroke SB12 class in 1:07.08.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s <strong>Andrii Trusov<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 100 backstroke S7 gold in 1:08.37.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thomas Van Wanrooij<\/strong> of the Netherlands won the men&#8217;s 100 backstroke S13 gold in 59.60.<\/p>\n<p>Ireland&#8217;s <strong>Roisin Ni Riain<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 100 backstroke S13 gold in 1:06.62.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s <strong>Alexa Leary<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 100 free S9 in 1:00.24.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine broke the world record in the mixed 4&#215;100 medley relay in 4:25.78.<\/p>\n<p>Great Britain won the mixed 400 free relay in 3:42.42.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.paralympic.org\/manchester-2023\/schedule-and-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Results<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Para World Championships: Four World Records Fall; Noah Jaffe Breaks American Mark More records fell on the fourth day of the 2023 Para Swimming World Championships from Manchester, England.
