It was her 29th career world championship medal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis summer has been really difficult, I\u2019ve been training by myself, so I\u2019m really happy with the results,\u201d Long told the USOPC. \u201cI love the 100 butterfly, and I came into this meet just wanting to have fun. I obviously wanted to get the gold, but I also just wanted to do my best.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of the greatest S8 butterfly swimmers of all time, Long is the defending Paralympic champion in the event. She has three Paralympic titles in the 100-meter butterfly race, and tonight\u2019s win is her seventh career world title in the event, dating back to the 2009 world championships.<\/p>\n<p>Cyprus swimmer<strong> Karolina Pelendritou<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 100 breaststroke SB11 (1:19.97) in a meet record.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rogier Dorsman<\/strong> of the Netherlands continued his strong meet with a meet record win in the 100 breaststroke SB11 (1:10.31).<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s 100 backstroke S1 final, Poland&#8217;s <strong>Kamil Otowski<\/strong> earned the gold medal in a championship record of 2:18.60.<\/p>\n<p>In the Para S2 final, Brazil&#8217;s <strong>Gabriel dos Santos Arauj<\/strong>o won the gold medal in a meet-record 1:55.34.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#8217;s breaststroke SB14 final, Brazil&#8217;s <strong>Debora Borges Carneiro<\/strong> broke an Americas record to win in 1:15.10.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#8217;s 100 backstroke S2, Singapore&#8217;s <strong>Pin Xiu Yip<\/strong> won in 2:17.78.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s <strong>Tess Routliffe<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 100 breaststroke SB7 in 1:31.91.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s<strong> Naohide Yamachuchi<\/strong> broke the meet record to win the men&#8217;s 100 breaststroke SB14 gold medal in 1:03.71.<\/p>\n<p>Israel&#8217;s <strong>Ami Omer Dadaon<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 150 IM SM4 in 2:32.67.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#8217;s 150 IM SM4, Germany&#8217;s <strong>Gina Boettcher<\/strong> claimed the gold medal in 3:01.70.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine&#8217;s <strong>Maksym Veraska<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 50 free S12 in 24.17.<\/p>\n<p>Brazil&#8217;s<strong> Maria Carolina Gomes Santiago<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 50 free S12 gold medal in 26.71.<\/p>\n<p>Brazil&#8217;s <strong>Samuel da Silva de Oliveira<\/strong> broke the meet record in the 50 butterfly S5 with a swim of 31.21 to earn gold.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s <strong>Lu Dong<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 50 fly S5 in a meet record 39.94. Xu Jialing won the women&#8217;s 100 fly S9 in 1:08.34.<\/p>\n<p>Colombia&#8217;s <strong>Nelson Crispin Corzo<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 200 IM SM6 class in a meet record 2:39.96.<\/p>\n<p>Great Britain&#8217;s <strong>Maisie Summers-Newton<\/strong> won the 200 IM SM6 in 2:57.53. U.S. swimmer <strong>Ellie<\/strong> <strong>Marks<\/strong> took the bronze in 3:02.96.<\/p>\n<p>Italy continued its strong Para World Championships.\u00a0 <strong>Simone Barlaan<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 100 fly S9 in 58.25 to break the meet record. <strong>Stefan0 Raimond<\/strong>i won the 400 free S10 in 4:06.96. <strong>Carlotta Gilli<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 100 free S13 in 59.26. <strong>Alberto Amodeo<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 100 fly S8 in 1:02.94.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary&#8217;s <strong>Bianka Pap<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 400 free S10 in4:33.43.<\/p>\n<p>France&#8217;s <strong>Alex Portal<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 100 free S13 in 52.47.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.paralympic.org\/manchester-2023\/schedule-and-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Results<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Para World Championships: Jessica Long Claims Gold For US;
