World Championships, Day Six Semifinals: Dare Rose Headlines Field in 100 Butterfly<\/strong><\/p>\n

Flash back a few weeks to the United States Trials for the World Championships. In the 100-meter butterfly, Dare Rose<\/strong> put together the best performances of his career to land an invitation to Fukuoka. Now, Rose is one race away from grabbing a medal in international competition.<\/p>\n

Surging down the stretch, Rose won the first semifinal behind a time of 50.53, which was .09 ahead of the 50.62 turned in by France’s Maxime Grousset<\/strong>. Rose just missed a medal earlier in the week in the 50 butterfly, but his efforts over one lap revealed he was in fine form and prepared for a fine showing in the 100 distance. That scenario is unfolding, as Rose packaged a 23.70 outing going split with a homecoming mark of 26.83.<\/p>\n

Grousset is chasing his third medal of the meet after already grabbing bronze in the 100 freestyle and 50 butterfly. He followed an opening split of 23.44 with a finish of 27.18. The third seed for the final went to Canadian Josh Liendo<\/strong>, the University of Florida standout. Liendo touched the wall in 50.75 and was followed in fourth by Aussie Matt Temple<\/strong> (50.89). There was a tie for fifth between Dutchman Nyls Korstanje<\/strong> and Israel’s Gal Cohen<\/strong> Groumi in 50.98.<\/p>\n
