World Championships: Gold Medalists Murphy, McKeown, Qin, Zhang, Douglass Highlight Mixed Medley Final (Full Lineups)<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the final of the mixed 400 medley relay at the World Championships, five teams will march out largely the same lineups they used to qualify in the morning heats<\/a>, with the major exception Canada’s insertion of\u00a0Kylie Masse<\/strong> on the backstroke leg. But the three medal favorites each have wholesale changes, with five individual world champions entering the mix.<\/p>\n

The top-seeded Americans go with men’s 100 backstroke winner\u00a0Ryan Murphy<\/strong> ahead of men’s 100 breaststroke co-silver medalist\u00a0Nic Fink<\/strong>, women’s 100 butterfly bronze medalist\u00a0Torri Huske<\/strong> and women’s 200 IM winner\u00a0Kate Douglass<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Chinese team, seemingly the favorites for gold based on swims so far in Fukuoka<\/a>, will have men’s 100 breast champion Qin Haiyang<\/strong> and women’s 100 fly winner\u00a0Zhang Yufei<\/strong> on the middle legs, with\u00a0Xu Jiayu<\/strong> leading off and\u00a0Cheng Yujie<\/strong> anchoring.<\/p>\n

Finally, Australia also has a golden touch to the relay lineup with women’s 100 back winner\u00a0Kaylee McKeown<\/strong> leading off before 200 breast world-record holder\u00a0Zac Stubblety-Cook<\/strong> and\u00a0Matt Temple<\/strong> handle the middle legs.\u00a0Shayna Jack<\/strong> will handle anchor duties after she split 51.66 on that leg in the morning. Based on her speedy relay swims so far this meet, Jack gets the nod over defending 100 free world champ\u00a0Mollie O’Callaghan<\/strong>, who will race in the 200 free final Wednesday night, but Australia will still be tough to beat if they are close heading into the anchor leg.<\/p>\n

The Netherlands, seeded third, will have an outside chance at reaching the podium with Maaike de Waard<\/strong>,\u00a0Arno Kamminga<\/strong>,\u00a0Nyls Korstanje<\/strong> and\u00a0Marrit Steenbergen<\/strong>, who also has a 51-second split to her credit this meet, while Great Britain has\u00a0Medi Harris<\/strong>,\u00a0James Wilby<\/strong>,\u00a0Jacob Peters<\/strong> and Anna Hopkin<\/strong>. For Canada, Masse will be joined by 100 fly silver medalist\u00a0Maggie Mac Neil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
