{"id":533571,"date":"2023-07-26T05:17:40","date_gmt":"2023-07-26T12:17:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=533571"},"modified":"2023-07-26T06:48:58","modified_gmt":"2023-07-26T13:48:58","slug":"world-championships-day-4-finals-qin-haiyang-adds-50-breaststroke-gold-to-100-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-championships-day-4-finals-qin-haiyang-adds-50-breaststroke-gold-to-100-title\/","title":{"rendered":"World Championships, Day 4 Finals: Qin Haiyang Adds 50 Breaststroke Gold To 100 Title"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>World Championships, Day 4 Finals: Qin Haiyang Adds 50 Breaststroke Gold To 100 Title<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Qin Haiyang<\/strong> added the 50 breaststroke gold to his 100 title in 26.29 at the <strong>World Championships<\/strong> in Fukuoka.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2023-world-aquatics-championships\">World Championships Meet Page<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/2023\/world-aquatics-championships-sw-live-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Defending champion <strong>Nic Fink<\/strong> took silver in 26.59 after finishing in a three-way tie for second in the 100 with <strong>Arno Kamminga<\/strong> and <strong>Nicolo Martinenghi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sun Jiajun<\/strong> made it a Chinese 1-3 in 26.79.<\/p>\n<p>Qin came into the one-length event two days after going <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/world-championships-day-2-finals-qin-haiyang-wins-100-breast-in-57-69-to-go-2nd-all-time-trio-share-silver\/\">second all-time in the 100 breaststroke<\/a> with a 57.69 Asian record en-route to gold.<\/p>\n<p>Coming into Fukuoka with a 50 entry time of 26.63, Qin set Asian records of 26.34 in the prelims and 26.20 in the semis, the seventh-fastest in history behind Peaty\u2019s top six, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/adam-peaty-unleashes-25-95-50-breast-world-record-in-budapest\/\">headed by his 25.95 WR<\/a> from the 2017 World Championships.<\/p>\n<p>The Briton isn&#8217;t at the <strong>World Championships<\/strong> as he continues to focus on his mental health recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Following the race, Qin was asked by the poolside interviewer whether he&#8217;d been after Peaty&#8217;s world record and he said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Yes, that&#8217;s always my dream.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is so much amazing.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He went on to swim an eye-watering 57.31 split as China won the mixed medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>Fink &#8211; who was third with the USA in the relay &#8211; said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I&#8217;m very happy with it. My timing was not great, and I think tonight I was definitely a lot more focused on Team USA\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So I didn&#8217;t really know what to expect going into that final.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everything kind of clicked, and I got silver, and I was very happy with that.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Teammate Sun added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I feel very happy because this is my first time to stand in a world class competition and as a medallist.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"attachment_533608\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption
