T<\/strong>ech Tuesday: Arena Swipe Goggles Provide Easy Defogging, Comfort and Performance<\/strong><\/p>\n

The struggle of foggy goggles is one that swimmers deal with daily, whether in an indoor or outdoor pool or open water, whatever stroke and whatever length of the set. Brand new goggles stay clear for a few days or weeks, but soon enough, the familiar fogginess sets in, and there’s no obvious answer for keeping the lenses clear. Rubbing the lenses gives swimmers some temporarily clear vision but can scratch and damage the lenses, actually wearing down the anti-fog aspects of the goggle.<\/p>\n

The Arena Swipe series of goggles is designed to correct that issue. In order to defog the lenses, a swimmer only has to wet the inside of the goggles, swipe across the inside of the lenses and then rinse in the pool. While most anti-fog technology stops working the more a swimmer swipes the lenses, these steps actually reactivate the anti-fog technology built into the Swipe goggles, and that keeps a swimmer’s view clear.<\/p>\n

Results of analysis conducted on the new technology have shown promising results. According to Arena, “Swipe Anti-fog technology has been subjected to severe stress tests in the laboratory and the results have shown that it lasts 10 times longer than existing Cobra anti-fog technology due to its superior chemical makeup and reactivation process.” A further analysis of swimmers using the goggles through months of workouts have shown results in line with expectations based on testing.<\/p>\n

Arena has released several variants of goggles containing swipe technology. The Cobra Swipe and Cobra Core Swipe goggles are the base variant designed for competition swimmers, while the Air-Bold Swipe was designed with comfort in mind with Air Seals and a honeycomb design to reduce pressure around the eyes as well as a large frame.<\/p>\n

The newest product of the line of Swipe goggles is the Cobra Ultra Mirror, which Arena calls “hydrodynamic perfection” with low-profile mirrored lenses, a blade shape intended to reduce drag, side temples that promote stability and an expanded field of view. These are top-of-the-line goggles designed to maximize performance in competition.<\/p>\n

All goggles containing Swipe technology come with five interchangeable nose pieces that athletes can pick for ideal fit.<\/p>\n
