data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.jimthesharkdreyer.com\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1689693585966000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0igy7daL6YYeF1cTBdqVyb\"><strong>Jim \u201cThe Shark\u201d Dreyer<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0 started the 1998 swim across Lake Michigan that launched his career as a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jimthesharkdreyer.com\/achievements\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.jimthesharkdreyer.com\/achievements&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1689693585966000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3vpscg3lYDWcOyT85EISlv\"><strong>record-setting athlete<\/strong><\/a>, and in the same month he turns 60 years of age, Dreyer plans to embark upon history once again from a Wisconsin beach.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To celebrate this significant anniversary and birthday, Dreyer will attempt to swim from\u00a0<em>Bradford Beach<\/em>\u00a0in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to\u00a0<em>City Beach<\/em> in his new hometown of Grand Haven, Michigan, beginning on August 1-3, 2023 (depending on weather).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dreyer\u2019s 2023 swim, entitled\u00a0<strong><em>Lake Michigan \u2013 The Silver Sequel<\/em><\/strong>, is 82.5 miles point-to-point and longer than his 1998 route &#8211; the first and only successful swim across the width of Lake Michigan between Wisconsin and Michigan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 1998, Dreyer swam from Two Rivers, Wisconsin to Ludington, Michigan &#8211; a 50-mile point-to-point swim that ended up with him logging 65 miles due to strong cross-currents.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In raising the bar on his own record, Dreyer estimates that with currents, he will swim approximately 25 miles further in his 25<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary swim, totaling around 90 miles.\u00a0 He expects the crossing to take more than 60 hours.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If successful in his quest, Dreyer will finish in Grand Haven, a.k.a. \u201cCoast Guard City USA,\u201d during its\u2019\u00a0<em>Coast Guard Festival.<\/em><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The timing is fitting, as the swim benefits the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/grandhavencpoa.org\/home\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/grandhavencpoa.org\/home&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1689693585966000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1z3twOkJBvGRYqzqaeqZTf\"><strong>Grand Haven Chapter<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/people\/Western-Lake-Michigan-CPOA\/100064927111374\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/people\/Western-Lake-Michigan-CPOA\/100064927111374\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1689693585966000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0PMvCrRtz1u6bzaNJ4hGau\"><strong>Western Association<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, supporting Lake Michigan Guardians, their families, and communities on both shores.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;I have enjoyed working with the
