Olympian Patrick Callan Joins Coaching Staff at Auburn<\/strong><\/p>\n

Recently retired Olympic swimmer Patrick Callan<\/strong> is beginning his foray into coaching at the college level on staff at Auburn, the school announced Friday.<\/p>\n

Callan made the Olympics in Tokyo in 2021. He swam at the University of California and Michigan in college, retiring in April<\/a> after completing his fifth year with the Golden Bears<\/a>. He\u2019s adding another prime college swimming destination to his list of home bases.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very excited to join the Auburn Swimming and Diving family,\u201d Callan said in a university press release<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s an unbelievable opportunity to be a part of the program that coach Wochomurka is building, and I\u2019m grateful to be a part of his vision for Auburn. I\u2019m looking forward to using my experience to help make this program better. War Eagle!\u201d<\/p>\n

Callan was part of the American men\u2019s 800 free relay at the Tokyo Olympics, swimming in prelims for a squad that finished fourth. He\u2019s been a staple on national teams since his junior years.<\/p>\n

A nine-time All-American and three-time All-Big Ten selection, Callan was a part of 800 free relays that won Big Ten titles twice at Michigan. He also was part of a Cal relay that won bronze at NCAAs this year. He was also a two-time Academic All-Big Ten and a two-time Michigan Athletic Achievement Award winner.<\/p>\n
