How They Train: The Work Of Georgia All-American Zoie Hartman<\/strong><\/p>\n

A five-time California state champion and a top-five college recruit in the Class of 2019 from Monte Vista High School in Danville, Calif., Zoie Hartman<\/strong> entered the University of Georgia<\/a> with a sterling competitive r\u00e9sum\u00e9. A two-time National Junior Team member, she was an 18-time NISCA High School All-American (eight top-10 performances), a four-time Speedo Junior West champion, an Olympic Trials qualifier and a 2018 Junior Pan Pac selection.<\/p>\n

In Athens, Ga., she didn\u2019t disappoint, becoming a 26-time CSCAA<\/a> All-American (tied for eighth all-time in program history), seven-time Southeastern Conference champion in the breaststrokes, IM and medley relay, and school record holder in the breaststrokes (second in the 200 IM). At the 2022 Phillips 66 National Championships, she finished second in the 200 meter IM and seventh in the 100 breaststroke. Outside the pool, she was a first-team CSCAA Scholar All-American and a two-time SEC Community Service Team member as well as being selected three times on the SEC Academic Honor Roll.<\/p>\n

Last week, the United States selection meet for the World Championships, Hartman was seventh in the consolation final of the 200 breaststroke and won the bonus final of the 50 breaststroke.<\/p>\n

\u201cZoie is an exceptional athlete and leader with a palpable love for swimming,\u201d says her coach, Stefanie Moreno<\/strong>. \u201cShe is dedicated and driven in the pool, demonstrating a work ethic that encourages teammates to push themselves to their limits to achieve their goals. Extremely coachable, she has a great demeanor and looks for challenges that drive her to be better.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe willingly learns from her coaches and teammates. Zoie understands that success in swimming is not just about individual performance, but also about supporting and lifting up those around her. In short, she is an inspiration to me\u2014and the team. It has been a joy to watch her excel in and out of the pool and to be a part of her journey as she continues to push herself to new heights.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe do a lot of IM work with Zoie. She does breaststroke threshold work on Monday afternoons. Mixing in different strokes helps her versatility. Our focus this spring and summer are her pullouts and turns,\u201d says Moreno.<\/p>\n
