A Look At the United States Team and Coaching Staff for the World Championships<\/strong><\/p>\n

USA Swimming has officially announced the list of athletes set to compete at the upcoming World Championships as well as the list of coaches who will be leading the U.S. team at the upcoming World Championships. Previously, Carol Capitani<\/strong> (women’s),\u00a0Bob Bowman<\/strong> (men’s) and\u00a0Ron Aitken<\/strong> (open water) had been named the head coaches for the squad.<\/p>\n

The assistant coaching staff will include Virginia associate head coach\u00a0Blaire<\/strong> (Bachman<\/strong>)\u00a0Anderson<\/strong>, NC State head coach\u00a0Braden Holloway<\/strong>,\u00a0Indiana head coach\u00a0Ray Looze<\/strong>, Stanford women’s head coach\u00a0Greg Meehan<\/strong>, Florida head coach\u00a0Anthony Nesty<\/strong> and Texas men’s head coach\u00a0Eddie Reese.<\/strong>\u00a0Cory Chitwood i<\/strong>s the open water assistant coach.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

As for the roster of athletes, all swimmers who finished in qualifying spots for Worlds were officially named to the team with the exception of\u00a0Michael Andrew<\/strong>. Andrew was the winner of the 50 butterfly earlier in the meet, which would normally be enough to qualify for Worlds, but 50-meter stroke winners were behind relay alternates on the priority list. With the cap of 26 men reached, Andrew was not named to the squad.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, after\u00a0Katie Ledecky<\/strong> opted to skip the 200 free individual event at Worlds, the seventh-place finisher in the 200 free was added to the roster bound for Fukuoka.\u00a0Anna Peplowski <\/strong>will now be part of the women’s 800 free relay squad. Peplowski was added because the U.S. women had not yet met the roster cap of 26.<\/p>\n
