NICK Caldwell’s astonishing meet record of 8:55.55 was never in jeopardy, and neither was Ian Rainey’s chances of winning tonight’s distance event. Leading by four seconds after 500 yards, Rainey won with a 9:05.31 to beat his lifetime best by 15 seconds. That distance talent will likely come to good use next year when he arrives on campus at the University of Michigan. Jonathan Blansford of Westport took second with a 9:09.64 while Drew Clark of Sarasota placed third with a 9:12.92.

Event 110 Men 1000 Yard Freestyle

     National: * 8:55.55 4/6/2011 Nicholas Caldwell, Sarasota-FL
9:48.29 QUAL Meet Qualifyng
Name Age Team Seed Finals Points

  1 Ian Rainey 18 Wilton-CT 9:20.35 9:05.31 QUAL 20
24.73 51.63 (26.90)
1:18.85 (27.22) 1:45.69 (26.84)
2:12.65 (26.96) 2:39.94 (27.29)
3:07.06 (27.12) 3:34.44 (27.38)
4:01.96 (27.52) 4:29.53 (27.57)
4:56.96 (27.43) 5:24.29 (27.33)
5:51.78 (27.49) 6:19.25 (27.47)
6:46.69 (27.44) 7:14.30 (27.61)
7:41.96 (27.66) 8:09.76 (27.80)
8:37.61 (27.85) 9:05.31 (27.70)
2 Jonathan Blansf 17 Westport/Weston 9:21.18 9:09.64 QUAL 17
25.58 52.70 (27.12)
1:20.09 (27.39) 1:47.79 (27.70)
2:15.40 (27.61) 2:42.97 (27.57)
3:10.41 (27.44) 3:38.09 (27.68)
4:05.90 (27.81) 4:33.77 (27.87)
5:01.35 (27.58) 5:29.00 (27.65)
5:56.75 (27.75) 6:24.78 (28.03)
6:52.69 (27.91) 7:20.48 (27.79)
7:48.60 (28.12) 8:16.08 (27.48)
8:43.26 (27.18) 9:09.64 (26.38)
3 Drew Clark 16 Sarasota-FL 9:20.33 9:12.92 QUAL 16
24.96 52.05 (27.09)
1:19.08 (27.03) 1:46.58 (27.50)
2:14.22 (27.64) 2:41.78 (27.56)
3:09.47 (27.69) 3:37.32 (27.85)
4:05.19 (27.87) 4:33.11 (27.92)
5:01.03 (27.92) 5:29.02 (27.99)
5:57.04 (28.02) 6:25.09 (28.05)
6:53.13 (28.04) 7:21.06 (27.93)
7:49.23 (28.17) 8:17.48 (28.25)
8:45.79 (28.31) 9:12.92 (27.13)
4 Stephen Holmqui 17 Wilton-CT 9:22.02 9:13.81 QUAL 15
25.98 54.11 (28.13)
1:21.79 (27.68) 1:49.62 (27.83)
2:17.29 (27.67) 2:45.03 (27.74)
3:12.88 (27.85) 3:40.81 (27.93)
4:08.67 (27.86) 4:36.62 (27.95)
5:04.59 (27.97) 5:32.52 (27.93)
6:00.50 (27.98) 6:28.38 (27.88)
6:56.24 (27.86) 7:24.19 (27.95)
7:52.18 (27.99) 8:19.99 (27.81)
8:47.40 (27.41) 9:13.81 (26.41)
5 Matthew Haigh 16 Ridley-PA 9:38.81 9:14.13 QUAL 14
25.01 52.72 (27.71)
1:20.73 (28.01) 1:48.87 (28.14)
2:17.03 (28.16) 2:45.14 (28.11)
3:13.34 (28.20) 3:41.64 (28.30)
4:09.63 (27.99) 4:37.59 (27.96)
5:05.41 (27.82) 5:33.56 (28.15)
6:01.66 (28.10) 6:29.56 (27.90)
6:57.30 (27.74) 7:25.08 (27.78)
7:52.79 (27.71) 8:20.36 (27.57)
8:48.04 (27.68) 9:14.13 (26.09)
6 Brandon Sweezer 17 Rock Hill-SC 9:28.34 9:16.08 QUAL 13
26.05 53.96 (27.91)
1:21.90 (27.94) 1:50.17 (28.27)
2:18.12 (27.95) 2:46.20 (28.08)
3:13.98 (27.78) 3:41.70 (27.72)
4:09.45 (27.75) 4:37.24 (27.79)
5:05.11 (27.87) 5:33.14 (28.03)
6:01.38 (28.24) 6:29.34 (27.96)
6:57.07 (27.73) 7:25.37 (28.30)
7:53.72 (28.35) 8:21.71 (27.99)
8:49.55 (27.84) 9:16.08 (26.53)
7 Heyward Brown 16 Middle Tyger-SC 9:19.93 9:17.13 QUAL 12
24.90 52.03 (27.13)
1:19.49 (27.46) 1:46.91 (27.42)
2:14.58 (27.67) 2:42.53 (27.95)
3:10.31 (27.78) 3:38.31 (28.00)
4:06.38 (28.07) 4:34.63 (28.25)
5:02.23 (27.60) 5:30.20 (27.97)
5:58.37 (28.17) 6:26.93 (28.56)
6:55.68 (28.75) 7:24.09 (28.41)
7:52.51 (28.42) 8:21.15 (28.64)
8:49.78 (28.63) 9:17.13 (27.35)
8 Mark Andrew 16 Gr.
