My focus is on getting back to 100% health for the rest of the summer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kalisz placed fourth in the 200 IM at last year&#8217;s World Championships in 1:56.21, and he would have surely been a medal contender this year in Fukuoka if he had come out of the event with one of the top-two times. However, Kalisz will race the 400 IM at Worlds after he finished second behind\u00a0<strong>Carson Foster<\/strong> in a quick 4:08.22 Thursday evening. Kalisz currently ranks fourth in the world in that race for 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Kalisz will be appearing at Worlds for the sixth time in his career, equaling the record for most appearances among Americans. Others with six separate Worlds teams include <strong>Michael Phelps<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Natalie Coughlin<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Ryan Lochte<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Elizabeth Beisel<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Nathan Adrian<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carson Foster<\/strong>, who joined Kalisz in the Worlds final of the 200 IM last year and earned the silver medal, will be the top seed for the final by a half-second after he clocked 1:58.56 in prelims.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It is with great disappointment that I have come down with food poisoning and will need to withdrawal from the rest of Nationals.
