GAINESVILLE, Florida, March 31. BEFORE Gregg Troy could wrap up the 2013-2104 college season, he met with the media today to look back on the highs and lows the Florida Gators experienced in the past week.<\/p>\n
The men collected a trophy for finishing third overall in Austin. Marcin Cieslak\u2019s wins in the 200 IM and 100 fly were the only victories scored by the Gators at them meet, and despite falling short of some of the goals set by the team, Troy said he was \u201ctremendously proud of how well they raced, how well they approached the competition.\u201d<\/p>\n
Though Kevin Cordes was voted men\u2019s swimmer of the meet, Troy said he felt Cieslak as the high-point winner was more deserving, not only for his individual performances but his relay contributions. \u201cTo his credit, he had to swim morning and evening relays. We aren\u2019t deep enough that we could be soft in any of them. It was fantastic to see him accomplish those things.\u201d<\/p>\n
A couple of illnesses from Pawel Werner and Sebastien Rousseau before the championships hurt the team somewhat, Troy said, and he commended his two seniors for racing well despite the setback.<\/p>\n
