SIMONE Manuel got after it pretty early this morning as she took down the American record in the 100-yard freestyle at the NASA Junior National Championship Cup in Clearwater, Fla.   She then followed that up with an American record as a relay leadoff for First Colony during finals.<\/p>\n<p>Manuel, just 17, clocked a 46.83 in prelims. That performance clipped Natalie Coughlin&#8217;s 2011 record of 46.84 set in Athens, Ga. Incidentally, the time also cleared Manuel&#8217;s 17-18 U.S. National Age Group record of 47.09 set earlier this year. <\/p>\n<p>First Colony closed out the night with a win in the 400 free relay, highlighted by an American record from Simone Manuel leading off. Manuel, who set the previous mark this morning in 46.83, lowered her time to 46.75 to give her team a gigantic lead. She took the race out in 22.43 and came home in 24.32. Madison Varisco (53.40), Alicia Finnigan (52.58) and Kenedy Thaman (51.78) brought it home in 3:24.51.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/new.livestream.com\/accounts\/207391\/events\/2869270\/videos\/46652857\/player?width=560&#038;height=315&#038;autoPlay=false&#038;mute=false\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CLEARWATER, Florida, March 30.
