Erin Gemmell, Teagan O’Dell, Maximus Williamson, Aaron Shackell Highlight NISCA All-America Lists<\/strong><\/p>\n

NISCA has released its swimming and diving All-America lists for the 2022-23 to recognize the top 100 performers in each event from high school competitions only. The high school swimming season spans the entire school year as most states compete in swimming during the winter while several states swim in the fall and a few in the spring.<\/p>\n

Four swimmers earned the No. 1 spot in two different events this year: Stone Ridge’s\u00a0Erin Gemmell<\/strong> led the way in the women’s 100 and 200 freestyle while\u00a0Santa Margarita’s Teagan O’Dell<\/strong> was in the top spot in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke. On the men’s side,\u00a0Aaron Shackell<\/strong> topped the 200 free and 500 free while\u00a0Maximus Williamson<\/strong> was first in the 200 IM and 100 free.<\/p>\n

Seven national records went down in high school competition this season. Carmel High School broke the national records in the 200 medley relay, with Berit Berglund<\/strong>, Molly Sweeney<\/b>,\u00a0Alex Shackell<\/strong>\u00a0and Meghan Christman<\/strong> clocking 1:36.89<\/a>, and later on in the 200 free relay, the team of Sweeney,\u00a0Grace Dougherty<\/strong>, Christman and Shackell knocked off that national mark<\/a>. However, that would not last long as Santa Margarita’s Teia Salvino<\/strong>,\u00a0Asia Kozan<\/strong>,\u00a0Gracyn Aquino<\/strong>\u00a0and Teagan O’Dell<\/strong> went even faster later in the season<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In Indiana, Aaron Shackell took down the national record in the 200 free<\/a>, and Will Modglin<\/strong> broke\u00a0Ryan Murphy’s\u00a0<\/strong>national record in the 100 back<\/a>.\u00a0Scotty Buff<\/strong> lowered the mark in the 100 fly<\/a>, and in California,\u00a0Rex Maurer<\/strong> (boys’ 500 free)<\/a> and O’Dell (girls’ 200 IM)<\/a> each got standards of their own.<\/p>\n
