U.S. Nationals: Katie Ledecky Returns to Action in 400 Free (Heat Sheet – Day Four Prelims)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fourth morning of preliminary action at U.S. Nationals will include the 400 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke. The session begins at 10 a.m. ET in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n

The women’s 400 free will begin the session, and the final heat includes American-record holder and world champion\u00a0Katie Ledecky<\/strong>. Already on the Worlds team in the 800 free and 200 free, Ledecky will be back in the water after an off-day Thursday to swim in a heat with Erin Gemmell<\/strong>, daughter of her former coach,\u00a0Bruce<\/strong>, who already made the team in the 800 free relay, along with 200 free winner\u00a0Claire Weinstein<\/strong> and 800 free runner-up. The second-to-last heat will include Worlds bronze medalist Leah Smith<\/strong>, Olympic finalist\u00a0Paige Madden<\/strong>\u00a0and Weinstein’s\u00a0Sandpipers teammates\u00a0Katie Grimes\u00a0<\/strong>and Bella Sims<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Top seed Carson Foster<\/strong> will be in the 400 free in an event that will include Olympic bronze medalist Kieran Smith<\/strong> plus fellow finalist\u00a0Jake Mitchell<\/strong>.\u00a0Jake Magahey<\/strong> and\u00a0Ross Dant<\/strong> are the other big names.<\/p>\n

In the women’s 100 breast, the three circle-seeded heats will include\u00a0Annie Lazor<\/strong>,\u00a0Lydia Jacoby<\/strong> and\u00a0Lilly King<\/strong> in lane four in their respective heats.\u00a0Josh Matheny<\/strong>,\u00a0Michael Andrew<\/strong> and Worlds bronze medalist\u00a0Nic Fink<\/strong> are the highlight swimmers in the men’s event, with Fink swimming next to 2016 Olympic bronze medalist\u00a0Cody Miller<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The women’s 100 back will have\u00a0Rhyan White\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Olivia Smoliga<\/strong> in the first seeded heat,\u00a0Claire Curzan<\/strong> and\u00a0Isabelle Stadden<\/strong> in the second and\u00a0Regan Smith<\/strong> next to Katharine Berkoff<\/strong> in the third. Finally,\u00a0Ryan Murphy<\/strong> will be next to 50 back world champion\u00a0Justin Ress<\/strong> in the 100 back after\u00a0Shaine Casas<\/strong> and\u00a0Hunter Armstrong<\/strong> swim in separate heats, with teenager\u00a0Daniel Diehl<\/strong> swimming next to Armstrong.<\/p>\n
