﻿{"id":530048,"date":"2023-06-24T04:23:08","date_gmt":"2023-06-24T11:23:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=530048"},"modified":"2023-06-26T20:58:15","modified_gmt":"2023-06-27T03:58:15","slug":"swimming-queensland-secures-2032-home-games-development-squad-partnership-with-hancock-prospecting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/swimming-queensland-secures-2032-home-games-development-squad-partnership-with-hancock-prospecting\/","title":{"rendered":"Swimming Queensland Secures 2032 Home Games Development Squad Partnership With Hancock Prospecting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Swimming Queensland Secures 2032 Home Games Development Squad Partnership With Hancock Prospecting<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was an historic day at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre on Saturday when more than 150 of Queensland\u2019s best young swimmers made a splash \u2013 daring to dream of 2032 and representing Australia at a home Games.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The occasion was Swimming Queensland&#8217;s official launch of \u00a0a long-term swimmer and coach development squad partnership with Australian mining giant Hancock Prospecting.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The partnership will foster the development of the next generation of Queensland, Australian and Olympic and Paralympic champions inspired by a proud history of greats who have taken their own golden path to Olympic and Paralympic glory.<\/p>\n<p>The stars of tomorrow were joined by their coaches, families and former and current champions including <strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Zac Stubblety-Cook<\/strong> (Chandler), <strong>Mitch Larkin <\/strong><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(<\/span>Chandler)<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><strong>Jenna Strauch <\/strong>(Miami)<strong>,<\/strong> <strong>Lizzy Dekkers<\/strong> (Chandler)<strong style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/strong><strong>Katja Dedekind<\/strong> (Yeronga Park) and <strong>Will Martin <\/strong><strong style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Chandler) <\/strong>as Swimming Queensland unveiled the advancement of a long and rewarding relationship with Hancock Prospecting that dates back to 2012.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/category\/oceania\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oceania Swimming<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Swimming Queensland also chose five youngsters to represent the squad with future stars <strong>Zoe Ammundsen <\/strong>(Iona College),<strong> Hudson Sheehan <\/strong>(Bond Swimming),<strong> Holly Warn <\/strong>(St Hildas)<strong>, Holly Hembling<\/strong> (Bond Swimming) and <strong>Kai Gilbert<\/strong> (St Peters Western) on stage for their first official interviews in front of a packed \u00a0Chandler Theatre packed with their squad members, coaches and families.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/qld.swimming.org.au\/news-articles\/swimming-queensland-development-squad-makes-splash-towards-2032-hancock-prospecting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The announcement comes<\/a> after a record 28 Queenslanders (75 percent) were named on the 38-strong Australian Dolphins Swim Team for next month\u2019s World Swimming Championships in Fukuoka (JPN), following the Selection Trials in Melbourne that saw Queensland swimmers win 30 of the 34 events!<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Swimming Queensland CEO <strong>Kevin Hasemann<\/strong> addressed the swimmers, coaches and their families to make the announcement before a special training session for \u201ctoday\u2019s talented swimmers chasing tomorrow\u2019s gold&#8221; (Swimming Queensland).<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI\u2019m delighted to announce today that Hancock Prospecting will partner with Swimming Queensland to grow development opportunities for our next generation of champion swimmers and give them the rare opportunities presented by a home Games.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cSwimming Queensland pledges that, with Mrs. Rinehart\u2019s assistance, it will do everything it can to help make our swimmers\u2019 dreams come true, while equipping them with the tools they will need to successfully navigate their way through their swimming career.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI\u2019m sure that every talented junior swimmer in Queensland is wanting to dream of glory in Brisbane in 2032, to experience the very rare privilege of engendering national pride and all the positive feelings that follow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Queensland\u2019s Olympic and World Champion and world record holder <strong>Zac Stubblety-Cook,<\/strong> knows only too well the benefits of a supported pathway program.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cGiven the Trials we have just had there is no doubt that there will be a lot of Queenslanders on that team for a Home Games in 2032 so it is a truly exciting time for the sport of swimming but more broadly for sport in Queensland,\u201d said Stubblety-Cook.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt is exciting to see at these development camps just how talented that next generation is.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI look back and I\u2019m very fortunate to be in the kind of position I\u2019m in now and to come out to see these young kids and hopefully instil in them some of things the older athletes (like Brenton Rickard and Christian Sprenger) instilled in me.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAlso having friends and family here has given it special sense of occasion.
