Maxime Grousset<\/strong> set a French 100 fly record of 50.61 as he sliced a chunk off the PB he set in prelims to go second in the 2023 rankings on the final evening of the national championships in Rennes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Grousset had served notice with a 51.71 PB in prelims where he shaved 0.01 from his previous best of 51.72 at the Giant Open<\/strong> in March.<\/p>\n He returned in the evening to slice a further 1.10secs from that time, splitting 23.46\/27.15 as he went 0.25secs inside Mehdy Metella<\/strong>‘s 2019 record of 50.85.<\/p>\n Up until Grousset’s blast, Metella owned the top 22 times in French history with the former standard-bearer poignantly also in the final in Rennes, finishing eighth in 53.39.<\/p>\n\n
