So far, the standouts have been brothers\u00a0<strong>Carson Foster<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Jake Foster<\/strong> while\u00a0<strong>Lydia Jacoby<\/strong> recorded a win over\u00a0<strong>Anna Elendt<\/strong> in the 100 breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p>Carson Foster moved to fifth in the world in the 200 butterfly Friday with a strong time of 1:54.68. He will head to Nationals as one of the favorites in the event after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/carson-foster-blasts-153-67-200-fly-at-austin-sectionals-to-become-third-fastest-american-ever\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">swimming a time of 1:53.67 last year at a Sectionals meet<\/a>. The younger Foster brother, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/carson-foster-to-turn-pro-forego-remaining-eligibility-at-texas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced last month that he was foregoing his remaining college eligibility to turn professional<\/a>, also secured a win in the 200 IM Saturday in 1:56.80, good for No. 7 globally.<\/p>\n<p>Jake secured a win in the 200 breaststroke, his time of 2:09.38 surpassing veteran\u00a0<strong>Will Licon<\/strong> by more than two seconds. Foster was less than four tenths off his best time, and he is less than a tenth outside the top-10 in the world so far this year, becoming the first American to break 2:10 so far. Foster also swam a superb time in the 100 breaststroke, touching in 1:00.22 for a best time by more than a half-second. However, Foster could not keep pace with\u00a0<strong>Caspar Corbeau<\/strong>, who won the event in 1:00.14.<\/p>\n<p>Also on Saturday, a battle of two of the world&#8217;s best swimmers in the women&#8217;s 100 breast saw Jacoby take the win in 1:06.20, a half-second clear of Elendt&#8217;s 1:06.85. Jacoby&#8217;s season best of 1:05.82 from the Mare Nostrum circuit last month ranks third in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Among other Texas swimmers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ncaa-womens-championships-emma-sticklen-passes-alex-walsh-in-final-stretch-for-200-butterfly-title\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NCAA 200-yard fly champion<\/a>\u00a0<strong>Emma Sticklen<\/strong> earned a pair of wins in the butterfly events, clocking 2:10.74 in the 200 fly and 58.95 in the 100 fly. <strong>Kelly Pash\u00a0<\/strong>dipped under 55 in the 100 free, touching in a winning time of 54.96.<\/p>\n<p>Several other Texas-trained swimmers raced but did not manage to achieve their usual speedy times as final preparations for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaswimming.org\/event\/2023\/06\/27\/default-calendar\/Phillips-66-National-Championships\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Nationals<\/a> take priority.\u00a0<strong>Shaine Casas<\/strong> won the 200 backstroke (1:59.81) and 100 fly (53.27).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Carson Foster, Jake Foster, Lydia Jacoby Record Strong Times at Texas Open With two-and-a-half weeks remaining until the United States World Championship team is selected in Indianapolis, a handful of<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":526061,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":false,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"dois","enabled":false},"version":2}},"categories":[3,122077,7],"tags":[60848,40892,70003],"class_list":["post-529331","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-featured","category-americas","category-usa","tag-carson-foster","tag-jake-foster","tag-lydia-jacoby"],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v24.3 (Yoast SEO v24.3) -
