Auburn University Hires John Fox as Head Diving Coach<\/strong><\/p>\n

John Fox<\/strong> has been hired as the head diving coach at Auburn, the university announced on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Fox joins the staff of head coach Ryan Wochomurka.<\/strong> He replaces Jeff Shaffer,<\/strong> who retired at the end of last season<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fox has spent his coaching career in the club realm, as the head coach and chief financial officer of Moss Farms Diving Club in Moultrie, Georgia. Among the 30-plus NCAA Division I divers he\u2019s tutored are four NCAA All-Americans and reigning men\u2019s platform NCAA champion<\/a> Carson Tyler<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“Diving has been a part of my personal story since I can remember,” Fox in a school statement<\/a>. “Beginning as a junior diver, moving to the collegiate ranks, continuing several years as a club coach and traveling as a coach for USA Diving, I am now both honored and excited to join the Auburn Swim and Dive Community. I am inspired by the history of this program, and I look forward to working with the caliber of student-athletes drawn to this incredible University. Building upon the firm foundation set before me, I am driven to lead and support current and future divers to succeed in the NCAA arena, and I<\/p>\n

truly look forward to the opportunity to serve as Head Diving Coach at Auburn University.”<\/p>\n

Fox has coached 11 junior national medalists, five junior international championships, two YMCA national champions and seven junior national champions. He was the 2021 USOPC Diving Development Coach of the Year. Fox coached with the United States at the Junior Pan Am Championship in 2019 and 2021. He also served as the vice chair of the USA Diving Coach Advisory Council since 2020.<\/p>\n

Fox graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2014 and earned a master\u2019s degree in sports business management from the University of Central Florida in 2016, where he worked in academic services for the UCF track and field team.
