Olympian Marilyn Chua Calls Out \u201cToxic and Negative\u201d Culture in Malaysia Swimming<\/strong><\/p>\n

Malaysian Olympian Marilyn Chua<\/strong> this week alleged that the nation\u2019s swimming program suffers from a \u201ctoxic and negative\u201d culture after its performance at the Southeast Asian Games.<\/p>\n

Chua made her statements to The Star newspaper<\/a>, lamenting the state of the nation\u2019s swimming program.<\/p>\n

“Regrettably, many of my swimmers upon joining the national team recounted with tears how toxic and negative the team culture is,\u201d she said. “How can athletes perform their best when the environment they are in is not conducive for growth?”<\/p>\n
