It\u2019s the opening day of eight for the national championships hosted by the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown, West Virginia. Both teams qualify for the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Weinrich, who dives at Indiana University and the Johansen Diving Academy, and Coral Spring Diving\u2019s Bishop scored 247.62 points. That put them a little less than six points up on <strong>Bailey Cranford<\/strong> and <strong>Aidan Wang.<\/strong> Weinrich and Bishop trailed after three rounds but took the lead with a 51-point inward three-and-a-half tuck.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHonestly, I\u2019m speechless,\u201d Bishop, who is 16 years old, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamusa.org\/USA-Diving\/News\/2023\/May\/17\/National-Champions-Crowned-in-Mixed-Synchro-Events\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told USA Diving<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m still shaking. I just wanted to go out and have fun, and we did. I\u2019m very excited.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew we could win the event,\u201d Weinrich said. \u201cI knew we had what it takes. It just comes down to performing in the moment. I think we held our composure really well, and I\u2019m super happy with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ryan and Palmer faced stiff competition in <strong>Kassidy Cook<\/strong> and <strong>Tyler Downs,<\/strong> a pair of Olympians. Ryan, who dives for Stanford, and the 30-year-old Palmer made a fast pair, the idea raised after Ryan competed against divers from Nevada in NCAA Zones this year. They trained together in Nevada, where Palmer, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/krysta-palmer-wins-bronze-on-3-meter-first-female-diving-medal-for-usa-since-2000\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a bronze medalist at the Tokyo Olympics<\/a>, is based and coaches.<\/p>\n<p>They scored 60 points or more on all three optional dives, surging from third place after three rounds.
