He\u2019s found a potent vein of form this year, the 23-year-old re-setting the 50 breast and 100 breast marks this spring, the latter at this meet. That includes Olympian <strong>Wu Peng, <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/three-time-olympian-wu-peng-back-at-chinese-nationals-after-10-year-retirement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">making a comeback at age 35<\/a>, in fifth.<\/p>\n<p>The 800 free turned into the second win of the week for <strong>Fei Liwei.<\/strong> He stopped the watch at 7:49.97, a winning margin of more than three seconds over <strong>Liu Peixin.<\/strong> Fei\u2019s time is an Olympic A cut, Liu\u2019s a B cut. Fifth was 100\/200 champ <strong>Pan Zhanle,<\/strong> who broke eight minutes in 7:59.15 in what is probably the upper limit of his distance specialty.<\/p>\n<p>On the women\u2019s side, the sprinters flexed their muscle in a strong showing in the 50 free. <strong>Cheng Yujie<\/strong> won in 24.53, edging <strong>Wu Quinfeng<\/strong> by .03 seconds. Relay standbys <strong>Zhang Yufei<\/strong> (24.62) and <strong>Yang Yunxuan<\/strong> (24.72) followed in third and fourth. The times includes thee A cuts and a B cut for Yang.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ye Shiwen<\/strong> won the women\u2019s 200 breast in 2:22.44. That swim routed the field by nearly five seconds. It also put a charge into the national record held since the super-suited days of 2009 at 2:21.37 by <strong>Qi Hu.
