Qin is just the third man ever to break 58 seconds, joining <strong>Adam Peaty\u2019s<\/strong> world record and the 57.80 by <strong>Arno Kamminga<\/strong> at the Tokyo Olympics. He finished second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.08, just .07 behind <strong>Wang Changhao<\/strong>. Wang\u2019s time of 22.01 is an Olympic B cut, Pan\u2019s is just .01 off that.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Xu Jiayu<\/strong> added a second gold medal of the meet by going 24.54 to win the men\u2019s 50 backstroke. <strong>Wan Leitan<\/strong> won the women\u2019s 50 back in 27.51, a scintillating race in which the top six finishers were separated by .61 seconds. <strong>Wang Xueer<\/strong> was second in 27.62, while Olympic medalist <strong>Fu Yuanhui<\/strong> was fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, <strong>Li Bingjie<\/strong> added a second victory in the 200 free. The 21-year-old pulled away from the field to clock in at 1:55.62. It\u2019s a best time for her by more than a second (she had been 1:56.64 at the national championships in 2019 and expands the reach of the Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist in the 400 free. She won the 1,500 in decisive fashion on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Second was <strong>Li Jiaping<\/strong> in 1:56.92. The reigning Olympic champion in the 800 free relay had four swimmers go 1:57.0 or faster. Li Bingjie is the only swimmer of that world-record quartet in Tokyo (with <strong>Tang Muhan, Zhang Yufei<\/strong> and <strong>Yang Junxuan<\/strong>) to swim the 200 free on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yu Yiting<\/strong> finished the session by winning the 200 IM. The former world junior record holder \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/summer-mcintosh-blasts-206-89-200-im-for-no-4-all-time-canadian-record\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a mark lost to<\/a> <strong>Summer McIntosh<\/strong> this spring \u2013 went 2:08.34, a best time by more than a second.
