NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>NC State has received a new verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season from\u00a0Leah Shackley\u00a0<\/strong>of Bedford, Pa. Shackley had originally committed to Indiana.<\/p>\n

She will join Katya Ivanov<\/strong><\/a>, Lily Christianson<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Erika Pelaez<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0in Raleigh as a member of the Wolfpack\u2019s Class of 2028.<\/p>\n

Regarding her commitment, she said:<\/p>\n

“The plans you make aren\u2019t always the ones that are meant for you. With that being said, I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at NC State. I want to thank every coach on the staff and\u00a0@kyleponsler<\/a> for this opportunity! I\u2019m very thankful for my family\u2019s and coaches support during this crazy process. Go Pack\ud83d\udc3a\u2764\ufe0f”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Shackley most recently competed at YMCA Nationals last month where she had an outstanding showing: She won the 100 back, 200 back, 100 fly and 200 fly while achieving best times in all four events. Her 100 fly time of 50.96 moved her up to #3 all-time for 15-16 girls.<\/p>\n

Back in November, she raced to fourth in the 100m back and sixth in the 200m back at the Toyota U.S. Open. She trains with Blair Regional YMCA.<\/p>\n
