Twenty one records fell on Friday during Day 2 of the U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS) Spring National Championships in Irvine, California.<\/p>\n
Several of the big names in the meet claimed USMS victories on Friday with record-setting performances, including Gabrielle Rose<\/strong>, who set four records. Laura Val, Jenny Thompson<\/strong> and Ally Howe<\/strong> were also among the record-setters.<\/p>\n In a meet with the most participation, the record-setting swims are adding up quickly.<\/p>\n Gabrielle Rose<\/strong> set records in the women’s 45-49 50 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke as well as the 200 IM an 50 freestyle, giving her four for the session.<\/p>\n Laura Val<\/strong>\u00a0 won the 200 backstroke in 2:26.12, a masters record for 70-74. She also won the 100 free in 59.89. She has claimed dozens of masters world records over the years and continues to get to the wall first.<\/p>\n Twelve-time Olympic medalist\u00a0Jenny Thompson<\/strong> won the 50-54 USMS 50 butterfly race in 25.70, faster than several younger age groups.
