Australia Para Swim Star Timothy Hodge Sets His Second World Record Of The Day In The 200m Individual Medley<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Australia Para swim star Timothy Hodge<\/strong> has tonight accomplished something rare in the swimming world, setting not one but two world record in one day on Queensland\u2019s Gold Coast at the Australian Championships.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old from ACU Blacktown in Sydney\u2019s west, smashed his own world mark set in this morning\u2019s heats in the SM9 200m individual medley, clocking a new world record time of 2:12.06 on the final night of the Australian Championships.<\/p>\n

It was in fact the third time he has lowered the mark this year \u2013 breaking his own time at the World Para Series event at the Melbourne Sports And Aquatic Centre.<\/p>\n

Hodge was under this morning\u2019s world record splits from the very first 50m butterfly and by the time he touched the wall at the end of the freestyle leg he was\u2013 0.90 under the old mark of 2:12.97 (<\/p>\n

And admitted to break the record twice was \u201ca dream come true\u201d for himself and coach Misha Payne.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got to say I\u2019m very, very happy with that time and to break that world record twice was amazing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll go back and sit with my coach and work out what we did right and what we can improve on moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hodge also praised his mentor \u2013 Australia\u2019s greatest Para swimmer in Matthew Cowdrey<\/strong>, who held the 200 IM world mark before Hodge first broke it last year at the World Championships.<\/p>\n
